We are a Covenant Christian School
What is a Covenant Christian school? The word covenant implies an agreement, a promise made between two parties. In the Old Testament, the Hebrew word for covenant is berit, and is found 280 times. The covenant established a binding agreements between parties. We are committed to partnering with parents, who commit to spiritually training their children at home and at church. We covenant to:
  1. Fulfill our mission by providing a quality education from a biblical perspective.
  2. Provide a safe, nurturing environment for all students.
  3. Know your child on a personal level and be available to discuss his/her academic progress.
  4. Regularly communicate information about the school and its events.
  5. Support your family in prayer.

The Parent Covenant at Dunwoody Christian School
  1. I agree to continue the spiritual training of my child(ren) at home and to attend a Bible-believing church service regularly.
  2. I agree with the Dunwoody Christian School Statement of Faith.
  3. I have reviewed and am in agreement with the policies set forth in the DCS Parent/Student Handbook.
  4. I agree to be involved at a grade appropriate level with my child(ren)’s education at home, realizing my child’s education is ultimately my responsibility (Ephesians 6:1-4).
  5. I will regularly access the parent web portal for important communications including the school calendar, homework assignments, announcements, etc.
  6. I will support DCS through prayer and a positive, constructive attitude. If I develop a complaint or concern about the school or its programs, I will utilize the guidelines found in Matthew 18:15, and the Conflict Resolution Procedures in the Parent/Student Handbook. I will address complaints and concerns with the person most directly involved, and will not communicate these complaints or concerns through any form of gossip, including social media.
  7. I will make a concerted effort to attend school activities that my child(ren) are involved in (e.g., programs, athletic competitions, etc.) as well as requested parent/teacher conferences and school-wide meetings.
  8. I commit to paying all DCS financial obligations in a timely manner.
  9. I understand that DCS does not tolerate obscenity, profanity, defamation of God’s Word, disrespect toward staff members or students, or repeated disregard of school policies from students or parents.
  10. If in the future I no longer agree with any of the above commitments, I agree to promptly communicate in writing to the DCS Headmaster my specific disagreements. I understand that disagreements with any of the above commitments may require me to withdraw my student from DCS.
  11. I understand and accept that if, in the judgment of the Head of School, my family is in violation of any part of this covenant, my child/children may be expelled from Dunwoody Christian School.

DUNWOODY CHRISTIAN SCHOOL COVENANT COMMITMENTS

WE ARE DISTINCTLY CHRISTIAN.

Our allegiance is to Jesus Christ, and we adhere to the truth of God’s Word, the Bible. Ours is a covenant Christian school, meaning every member of our community has either professed personal faith in Christ or in the case of our youngest students, are members of a Christ-honoring home. We are dedicated to teaching sound doctrine, developing Christian character, and readying our students to build the kingdom of God, both in ministry and in the marketplace. We will maintain a culture that loves and serves God, one another, and the world.

We create environments where students excel in knowledge, refine their aptitudes into talents, and flourish as they become established in their faith.There are four ways we accomplish this:

  • We maintain high academic standards;
  • We hire only the most talented, certified, and dedicated Christian educators;
  • We keep classroom size small and focused;
  • We educate from a Christian perspective.

Your child will be entering a loving, safe, engaging, challenging, and nurturing community at our Christian school in Atlanta, Georgia. Because we are a covenantal school, your child will be surrounded by staff, teachers, and peers who all share their Christian beliefs and values.

Our unique community will facilitate the growth of roots, which will establish your child in Christian values and truth and prepare them to thrive in new areas of growth.

Many of our parents have also found that they have developed new, meaningful relationships with other DCS parents. Some of our DCS families are “doing life together” with one another in true community. 

We are firmly committed to preparing your child to enter the college or university of their choice. However, we don’t stop there. We enable students to become grounded in Christ, ready to face the opportunities and challenges of life beyond the classroom.

DCS exists to partner with parents in the process of developing their children. Your child’s teachers will be accessible to discuss their progress and plan your child’s success together. As a partner, DCS will welcome your comments concerning any aspect of the school and its programs. In kind, we will ask each of our parents to be actively engaged in building the DCS community.  

We realize that most parents are busy and accustomed to service excellence. At DCS, we adopt a Christ-like service mindset. Our staff will seek to serve all stakeholders – parents, students, children, and others – who are likewise invested in our students’ education and character development. We will also encourage our students to adopt a Christ-like service mindset in all they do. 

We are growing! We will continue to grow into a full-service K-12 school.

Because God’s work is worldwide, we create opportunities for our students to encounter a range of languages and people groups. We prepare young people to successfully enter other cultures and undertake the work God has called them. We also seek students and their families who want to engage with and minister to our local community.

Our world changes rapidly, and while we will always remain faithful to biblical principles, we are ready to adapt. We will prepare young people to be catalysts of God-honoring transformation in societies worldwide.

Perhaps more than ever before, safety is a primary concern of parents. At our Christian school in Atlanta, Georgia, we establish and rigorously maintain optimal safety policies and procedures. Beyond physical safety, we are also dedicated to creating a safe learning environment where students can be themselves, explore ideas, and flourish in their Christian faith.
